San Carpoforo is a converted church in the historic center of Milan. It is now the headquarters of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. The original structure seems to date back to the pre-existence of a Roman pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Vesta. It was associated with the cult of the home.
Roberto Semprini created this project using the theme of the cult of the home. During the creation of this project, he imagined a large loft which was decorated by an artist or a collector of art & design.
In 1917, Wright wanted to merge art with architecture, turning his house into a true work of art. It was from this point that the inspiration for an environment where every single detail, the objects, the finishing touches and the materials used gave a new meaning to a great work of art.
The organisation of the space enables Semprini to refer to a concept which has already been described by Mies van der Rohe: "furnishing objects are three-dimensional sculptures in the environment that can be seen from all angles."
